The Most Popular Home Surveillance Systems

The most popular home surveillance systems nowadays are the wireless surveillance systems simply because they are a lot easier and less expensive to install. A wireless home surveillance system provides all the benefits of a surveillance system without the hassle of having to drill holes and dig trenches to have it installed.

There are many different companies that make wireless home surveillance systems such as Avermedia, Geovision, and etc and before actually applying for a surveillance systems, its best to do some market research mostly through the online resources, to compare and the best surveillance system. There are various Internet websites which will give the homeowner the choices in the market with detailed descriptions.

A wireless home surveillance system takes the whole concept of a safe and secure home to whole different level as the peripherals that can be used in a wireless home surveillance system are advanced and more reliable than their older counterparts. Such type of home surveillance system means that you can set up most of your peripherals without the hassle of cables or wires.

You can also set up your CCTV cameras in every possible area of the room and not just at the corner of a ceiling and it also gives you an opportunity to hide the camera wherever you want. But obviously the wireless home surveillance system will require that the signal is not lost or blocked or else you will not be able to record anything that the camera “sees”. Such a system will also help you to operate your monitoring activities in complete stealth. You should however know exactly where to place the cameras so that they are not revealed to intruders or burglars. On the other hand, the wired surveillance systems usually give away the locations of cameras once the cables are discovered.

You can also have microphones installed in your wireless home surveillance system if you feel that installing cameras is too intrusive. This is not as effective as a camera, but the recordings from a microphone can help in a wireless home surveillance system. This can be especially useful at night in order to trace unexpected noises around the house. Such wireless surveillance systems usually consists of an alarm and probably some motion detection equipment and are considered to be one of the easiest, most cost-efficient wireless home surveillance system.
A wireless home surveillance system takes a lot less time to install because of the fact that it is wireless and most of the peripherals will work on batteries so you don’t have to hook anything up to your local electricity. So, it works regardless of whether there is electricity or not, provided that your mother terminal that controls everything also works on its own power source.

Components of CCTV Systems

A CCTV security system consists of hardware and software components that collect and transmit vital surveillance camera information over fiber optic lines to control rooms staffed by security professionals and equipped with digital CCTV monitors.

Such types of CCTV cameras range in type from compact, fixed cameras to direction-controlled models that can see in the dark under various lighting conditions. You need to know what kind of requirement each surveillance camera must fulfill. You may also need to weatherproof the surveillance cameras if the cameras are mounted in an especially hot or cold climate, or if the viewing fields could be obscured by dirt or dust.

CCTV systems deter most of the property crimes and robberies, but not more violent crimes such as rape and aggravated assault. But in most of the situations, when a CCTV system is in place, criminals generally shy away from these monitored areas fearing prosecution since these recorded images can be used in court. For the CCTV system to be effective, the electronic system must be used in conjunction with human know-how and skills and it should be carefully integrated into existing security plans. In the coming years, digital CCTV systems will evolve and provide us with more options as for the protection of our property. One of the available type are wireless systems which are completely portable and can deliver live images to a PC, an Internet phone, or a laptop.

The cameras in these systems are tiny, but include many of the sophisticated features of full size digital CCTV cameras. Most of the CCTV customers also seek IP-based solutions with LAN/WAN delivery options despite some lags in the technology's image quality and frame rate.

2) Alert from the burglars and also it dissuades the burglars from entering the property as most burglars don't like home surveillance systems and when they come across a home that has a home surveillance system installed, they don't prefer to go inside the same.
3) While you are away on holidays a home surveillance system can monitor the safety and surveillance of your pets.
4) A surveillance system also benefit a user when it comes to insurance. Most insurance companies view the use of surveillance systems as a means of decreasing the risk further and offer discounts because they know your property is less likely to be stolen when a surveillance system is in use.
5) Providing safe and secure feeling - surveillance systems help you feel that you are at a safe place and you are being protected.

CCTV vs DVR

DVR(digital video recorder)also known as a personal video recorder records directly to a disk or hard drive instead of to a video tape of sorts.

It can be found on most computer software as well as being in the form of stand-along box units for television and film. You can also use them as a cost effective way for security by getting DVR cards with up to 8 camera connections on them. So, then you can mount security cameras all around your property and record directly onto your PC. By this method you can capture several days worth of video footage from several cameras into your DVR system on your computer.

CCTV security system organizations also use DVR in their surveillance systems since DVR is able to record for extended lengths of time. It provides a clearer picture, allowing for better quality results. DVR is therefore used by banks, car dealerships, retail stores, and especially at mini-markets which are a prime target for crime. Such recorder systems are helping combat crime by providing excellent images of people committing crimes. So, in case you want to find out what is happening in your office you can hook your DVR surveillance system into the Internet and see live images. You can also store the video for three months or more. A typical DVR surveillance system has the essential components including motion sensors, multiplexer, image zoom controls; color quad processor and CCTV camera connections.

Most of such surveillance systems have image zoom controls that can move and turn from side to side ensuring that you don't have to put more than two cameras in a room. So you need not record everything for 24 hours, as the device will only switch on when there is activity in the area being monitored and also save on disk space. Every motion in the DVR systems can be separated into an image in common formats like jpeg which makes recognition of faces or movements easier.

You can then store the videos according to time and date for sequential retrieving. Some of these systems also offer audio recorders to listen to conversations taking place in a room being monitored. So, it comes as no surprise that many of the organizations, malls, banks and homes are installing DVR based security systems. In the near future, more of such technological enhancements will make the DVR security systems even more effective and with possible lower prices. ink.

Video Surveillance system & CCTV Cameras

CCTV cameras are everywhere. Since 911 the use of surveillance cameras has shifted dramatically. No longer are we worried if "big Brother" is watching but now many of us are worried he's not!

Many large companies before 911 chose not to install security cameras in many parts of their facilities. This decision was based mainly on the negative attitudes from employees and labor unions who feared the cameras would be used as an unfair way to micro manage employees. The fact of the matter is 99% of companies that install security cameras are not interested in spying on employees but rather want to protect their assets and limit any possible legal liability. This was true before and after 911. So what changed? Why are there so many video surveillance system in use now?

The use of security cameras since 911 has dramatically increased in every commercial industry. From gas stations, to county court houses, to day care centers, the installation and use of video security systems has shot up. Why? Are they better now? Are they less expensive? Are they easier to install? Is the perceived value of having a video record of an incident increasing? The answer to all these questions is..Yes. With the increase in computer processing speed the performance of video security systems has increase substantially, while at the same time the overall cost of the equipment has dropped. Before 911 most security camera systems were professionally installed. Shortly after 911 a new market emerged. The systems had become so easy and friendly to install there was a notable shift towards ¡°do it yourself¡± kits. These prepackaged video surveillance kits became a favorite choice for many companies, business owners, schools and even home owners. The kits provide the same performance as a system installed by a security dealer but at a faction of the cost.

The drop in cost, ease of installation and increase in performance is ultimately what caused the huge increase in security camera use. So what about our attitude? We don't hear much talk about Big Brother any more. No longer are we worried about someone knowing our lunch break went ten minutes to long. Perhaps now we understand there are bigger more important issues at hand and that these invasive spying systems are not what we though they were. I think of it this way, video security systems are much like auto insurance, we don't like paying for it but if something happens were sure glad we've go it.
